13th Feb 2018

Vattikuti Foundation

The Vattikuti Foundation is pleased to announce two exciting new Fellowship opportunities in Robotic Surgery at one of India’s leading hospitals.  The deadline for Applications has been extended until Monday, February 19, 2018.

Both Fellowships are exclusively in robotic surgery. Those who are likely to have access to surgical robots upon completion of the Fellowship are encouraged to apply:

1) Vattikuti Robotic Gynaecological Oncology Fellowship: MCI recognized postgraduate degree in Gynecology with minimum three years of working experience in Department or Division of Gynae oncology or MCh Gynecologic Oncology. Candidates with relevant super specialties will be preferred.

Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon.

Fellowship Director :Dr. Rama Joshi, Director, Gynae Oncology.

2) Robotic Head & Neck Surgery (ENT): Recognized postgraduate degree in Surgical Oncology or ENT required.

Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon.

Fellowship Director: Dr. Surender Dabas.
(This replaces a previous Vattikuti Fellowship, which was forfeited by the fellow.)

The objective of the Vattikuti Foundation Fellowship Program is to create highly trained Indian surgeons in the field of robotic surgery by providing these one-year Fellowships. The intent is that when the Fellowships conclude, these surgeons will be able to undertake robotic surgery in their chosen field independently and will have met the requirements to earn Intuitive Surgical certification on the da Vinci Surgical System. Another aspect of these Fellowships is to advance the academic research abilities of our Fellows. Besides intensive specialty-specific robotic surgery training, programs include: participation in the Vattikuti Collective Quality Initiative robotic surgery database program; attendance at Robotic Surgeons Council of India meetings; travel to one approved International specialty conference during the second half of a Fellowship- provided that the Fellow has an accepted abstract for presentation; and other Vattikuti Foundation organized robotic surgeons opportunities. Vattikuti Fellows will receive a stipend of 1.15 Lakh/month. The Fellowships will be rigorously monitored and underperforming Fellows will not be allowed to complete the Fellowship.

Please note: This is a highly competitive program.

Please do not apply if you cannot financially afford the stipend payment (1.15 Lakh/month), or would not be able to relocate to Gurgaon by April, 2018!
Please do not contact or apply to the institutions or surgeons directly.
Entries must include:

1) A cover letter explaining which Fellowship the applicant wishes to be considered for- as well as their reasons for applying. Spelling and grammar are very important, one page minimum. (Please note the spelling for: Vattikuti Foundation.)
2) A current CV/ Resume. Please include: PubMed listed publications; medical conference presentations; robotic surgery training; awards in Medicine (Gold, 1st, 2nd...). Please do not include such items as sports or drama awards.
3) Accurate contact information: current address; e-mail address; telephone, hometown information. Applicants should clearly mention the details of their current assignment and their contact details on a separate page.
4) Letter(s) of recommendation from a professor or department head (one minimum, additional letters are encouraged, and will be counted). Multiple copies of the same letter signed by different professors will result in forfeit of Fellowship application!

Your e-mail is not viewed as a cover letter. All entry files must be clearly identified with the applicant's name and contact information. Early entries are invited, due to the volume of applications expected. All Awards, Publications and achievements (in Medicine) count! Make your application the best it can be! Sloppy work, plagiarism will not be rewarded.
Housing may be arranged with the Sponsor Institution, but is not covered by the Vattikuti Foundation- this is the Fellows' responsibility.
Vattikuti Foundation selects Fellows purely on merit and through a rigorous multi-tiered selection process.
