Medanta Hospital introduces the Medanta Vattikuti Institute of Robotic Surgery, a collaboration between Medanta and the Vattikuti Foundation, USA. The Medanta Vattikuti Institute of Robotic Surgery is a multispecialty, multi- modality Institute that currently covers Cardiac, Urology & Gynaecology Surgeries. This Institute practices state-of-the-art multispecialty robotic surgery under one roof and will be the hub of creation and dissemination of knowledge through its collaborative network and extensive training programs. Medanta - the Medicity has state-of-the-art operation theaters with the latest robotic surgery equipment. The Institute has acquired the aa Vinci Si four arm surgical robotic system for various robotic surgery procedures. The advantages of robotic surgery include: 10-12 fold magnification of the surgical field, 3D vision, precision due to seven degrees of freedom of movement of robotic instruments, motion scaling and filtering hand movements of the surgeon. Thus, the surgical robot facilitates advanced surgical and reconstructive procedures with greater precision and accuracy.

Medanta, the Medicity, one of the Vattikuti Foundation Network Institutions, has a well designed information section for patients about robotic surgery- whether you go there for surgery- or to a different medical center, the information applies. Here is an exerpt: "The Da Vinci robotic technology is the most advanced platform for minimally invasive surgery available today. The Da Vinci robotic technology enables surgeons to perform delicate and complex surgeries through a few tiny incisions, instead of giving the patient a big cut."
