Dr. Craig Rogers specializes in minimally-invasive robotic surgery for kidney cancer, prostate cancer, and adrenal tumors. He has trained at some of the top medical centers in the country and has learned alongside the pioneers of these techniques. He attended Stanford University School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree. He completed his urology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, training under Dr. Patrick Walsh. This was followed by a Urologic Oncology Fellowship in prostate and kidney cancer surgery at the National Cancer Institute.
Dr. Rogers helped pioneer the development of the robotic partial nephrectomy procedure and is one of the world’s most experienced surgeons in robotic kidney surgery. Whenever possible, he uses robotic assistance to remove tumors while sparing the normal kidney to preserve kidney function and offer patients the benefits of smaller incisions, less pain, and faster healing. He also has a busy prostate cancer practice and has authored numerous papers on prostate cancer outcomes and surgical techniques.
Dr. Rogers has published extensively on the subjects of urologic cancers and minimally invasive surgery, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He was honored to be chosen to perform the first live robotic partial nephrectomy surgeries at the American Urological Association National Meeting and the first live webcast of a robotic partial nephrectomy. He has demonstrated robotic kidney and prostate surgeries for audiences throughout the world. Dr. Rogers has presented nationally and internationally about robotic kidney surgery and robotic prostatectomy and has won multiple national and international awards for those presentations. Dr. Rogers is the course director for an annual course on robotic kidney surgery and he has been an invited faculty for other robotic surgery courses around the globe. He has been featured on CNN, Detroit Channel 4 News, Detroit radio (Frank Beckman Show and Paul W. Smith Show), and NPR and was recently featured on a Minds of Medicine television documentary. He has been selected as “Top Doc” by Hour Detroit Magazine and “Best Doctors in America” and “America’s Top Urologists”.
