OLV Vattikuti Robotic Surgery Institute offering surgeon specific training courses
The OLV Vattikuti Robotic Surgery Institute is pleased to announce several courses in robotic surgery. Sessions are planned for: October 2013, 14 - 18 , November 2013, 18 - 22 and December 2013, 2 - 7, 16 - 20. These courses are accredited by the EACCME.
Surgeon Specific Basic Training is a 3-day course covering: Basic Knowledge, OR organisation and set-up, Patient positioning, Trocar placement and video step-by-step technique. Live surgery will be observed, organ-specific (Kidney, Prostate, Bladder and Urogynaecology) information presented as well as a dry lab and Simulator.
Surgeon Specific Advanced Training offers 3-days of an organ-specific (Kidney, Prostate, Bladder and Urogynaecology) theoretical session, hands-on dry lab work, Live surgery observation and animal lab robotic work including: Dissection, Knotting, Trocar placement, robot placement, instrument changes and expert's Tips & Tricks.
Surgeon Specific Intensive Training is a 5-day course featuring detailed da Vinci robotic system training, Live organ-related OR training, animal lab robotic training including: Dissection, Knotting, Trocar placement, robot placement, instrument changes and expert's Tips & Tricks. Also for this class will be advanced theory and simulator training, culminating in a Practical Exam on the simulator. Successful participants will earn an EAU certificate.
General Robotic Training is a 2-day course featuring a day of learning the da Vinci robotic system basics and Theory: Basic knowledge pathology, OR organisation and set-up, Patient Positioning and Trocar placement. Video step-by-step technique will help participants see and understand the system. Draping and docking the robot, working the robotic arms, instruments and Expert's Tips & Tricks all are in the first day. Day 2 consists of animal lab training:dissection,Knotting,Trocar and Robot placement, Instrument changing plus more tips and tricks from the experts.
Organ Specific Training is a 3-day session beginning with Organ specific theorectical Anatomy, Clinical Indications, Surgical techniques step-by-step, Postoperative care and Outcomes of procedures. A practical, organ specific dry lab and simulator session ends the first day, The next days include observing live surgery and animal lab, organ specific training.
International faculty will provide the instruction. Prof. Dr. Ficarra is the scientific Director, Dr. Alexandre Mottrie, Dr. Paul Carpentier, Peter Schatterman & Dr. Geert De Naeyer are the local faculty.
