DR. Ali Zamir Khan

Dr. Khan brings in a rich world class work experience in the field of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery.  He worked in the United Kingdom for about 20 years before deciding to return to India.  Dr. Ali Zamir Khan started the Robotic Thoracic Surgery Program in India at Medanta-The Medicity.


He is an expert on procedures like robotic lobectomy, robotic thymectomy, robotic resection of mediastinal tumors, robotic resection of thoracic outlet tumor, robotic resection of lung metastases, robotic resection of nerve tumours (Schwannoma), robotic plication of diaphragm and robotic ligation of thoracic duct. This wide range of robotic surgery is unique to Medanta-The Medicity.


Having a strong interest in academics and research, Dr Khan has published more than 100 original research papers and chapters, and delivered more than 60 invited lectures all over the world.  He has participated in the VGR 2012 conference and is active in the Robotic Surgeons Council of India


He has received numerous awards and honours for his contribution in academic excellence. He was awarded the best audio-visual presentation for “Robotic resection of 2nd rib tumour” at the Meeting of The International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery 2013, Prague.  He has been the Course Director for VATS Wetlab organised by the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Turkish Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Tunisian Society of Respiratory Medicine and Surgery and faculty on the Covidien and Ethicon VATS Course and other international conferences in UK, US, and Middle East.  He is faculty on almost all international conferences in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery and Robotic Thoracic Surgery.
